Become a Foster Parent

Foster parents are the heart of Running Out of Hay. By opening your home, you allow me to expand capacity, respond to more urgent cases, and ultimately save more lives. As a foster parent, you provide daily care, a safe indoor space, and fresh veggies, while the rescue supplies everything else, including hay, pellets, enclosure, bedding, veterinary care, monthly health checks, and ongoing support.

Fostering is a meaningful, hands-on way to make a direct impact. All animals remain under the ownership of the rescue, and you’ll have guidance every step of the way.

Due to the hands on nature of the Foster Program, Foster Families must reside in San Mateo County, San Francisco, Santa Clara County, San Leandro, Hayward, Castro Valley, Union City, Newark, or Fremont.
